The Puducherry Scholarship initiative 2025-26 is a scheme designed by the State government of Puducherry, India, to support students from SC/ST categories studying at various stages of their education, from the elementary level to PhD. About Puducherry Scholarship 2025
The Puducherry Scholarship was launched to help students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds who are enrolled in technical or professional programs, as well as students with disabilities. By addressing financial barriers, these initiatives ensure that every deserving student has the opportunity to continue their education without hardship.
Objective of Puducherry Scholarship 2026
The Primary objectives are :
- To ensure that economic barriers do not prevent meritorious students especially in higher Education and professional courses.
- To uplift students belonging to the scheduled caste and other minorities to the economically weaker sections by providing comprehensive financial assistance.
- To encourage students from marginalised communities to continue and complete their education up to the secondary and post-secondary levels.
- To disburse funds directly into the beneficiary’s bank account through the Direct Benefit Transfer system.

Eligibility
- Applicants must belong to the Scheduled Tribe ( SC) category.
- Applicants must have passed class 10 or Higher Secondary or any higher examination of a recognised University or Board of Secondary Education.
- The annual family income of the student must not exceed ₹2.50 lakh.
- Applicants must have a valid account in a scheduled bank.
- Should not be the recipient of any other scholarship

Group 1 – Bachelor’s, Master’s Degree, MPhil/PhD degree to a Degree, PG Diploma, in professional courses in various streams
- Day scholars – ₹550 per month
- Hostellers – ₹ 1200 per month
Group 2 – All non-professional recognised courses like Bachelor’s, Master’s Degree, MPhil/PhD degree not covered under Group I in Arts, Science and Commerce like BA/B.Sc/B.Com or MA/MSc/M.Com
- Day Scholars – ₹530 per month
- Hostellers- ₹820 per month
Group 3 – Vocational stream, ITI courses, 3-year diploma courses in Polytechnics, etc.
- Day Scholars- ₹300 per month
- Hostellers – ₹ 570 per month
Group 4 – All post-class 10 level non-degree courses for which the entrance qualification is High School (Class X), e.g. senior secondary certificate (Class XI and XII)
- Day Scholars- ₹230per month

Note: Disabled Students will get ₹800 per month (for hostellers) and ₹600 per month (for day scholars).

Eligibility
- Students must belong to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category.
- Students must have passed the class 10 or Higher Secondary or any higher examination of a recognised University or Board.
- Applicants pursuing a Post-graduate degree in the field of medicine will be eligible.
- For employed students, their income combined with their family’s (Parent/Guardian) income must not exceed ₹1.50 lakh per year. And for unemployed students, their family’s annual income should not exceed ₹1.50 lakh.

Assessment Process
- Once the application is submitted online it goes through verification at three levels first by the Institute nodal officer. Next, it is cross-checked by the District welfare education officer. Finally, it is reviewed by the head of the implementing department of the welfare department in Puducherry.
- The final review of eligibility is based on academic criteria before the application is forwarded to the ministry level.
- After completion of state-level verification, the application is sent to the central department where all eligibility criteria and the merit list are examined. Upon approval, the scholarship amount is sanctioned through the Public Financial Management system. For centrally sponsored schemes the concerned central ministry sanctions the payment file.
- Finally, the scholarship amount is transferred directly to the student’s bank account.
