The JN Tata Endowment Scholarship 2026-27 aims to identify and support the most gifted Indian students to pursue full-time postgraduate, doctoral, and post-doctoral studies. By providing financial support for Tution and living expenses, the endowment aims to equip these scholars with world-class knowledge and skills across diverse disciplines. The ultimate goal is to enable these individuals to excel globally and eventually contribute significantly to the progress and service of India.

Eligibility Criteria
- Must be an Indian citizen not older than 45 years as of 30 June 2026.
- Must be graduates of a recognised Indian university with at least 60% aggregate marks in undergraduate or postgraduate studies.
- The overseas course must be a full-time recognised graduate program.
- Candidates who did not get selected in the previous year/earlier for the JN Tata Endowment loan scholarship and candidates who could not avail of the loan scholarship when they were selected are eligible to apply afresh.
- Candidates who are already pursuing post-graduate studies overseas may apply either at the end of their first year of studies or at the commencement of the second year, provided there is a minimum of one full academic year (12 months) remaining to be completed at the time of the loan scholarship award, typically in July of any calendar year.
- Candidates who are currently on break for CPT or OPT training must have two full semesters or three quarters remaining to complete their program.
- JN Tata scholars who have fully repaid their existing loan scholarship amount are eligible to apply.
- Candidates going overseas for student exchange programs, seminars, conferences, training, workshops, paper presentations, undergraduate studies, and any post-graduate degree/diploma/certificates through Distance learning or online mediums are not eligible to apply.
- Candidates planning to pursue post-graduate and undergraduate studies in India are not eligible to apply.
- Candidates who are planning to study for a diploma of at least one year’s duration, whose entry-level requirement is higher secondary level, are not eligible to apply.
Assessment Process
Assessment of applicants for the scholarship :
1. Screening
Review of the online application and statement of purpose
2. Aptitude Test
Shortlisted candidates take an online test similar to the Thinking Skills Assessment.
3. Subject interview
A technical interview with subject experts to assess the depth of knowledge.
